Title: The Blame Game

Pairing(s): Kyuhyun & Sungmin (KyuMin), Minor/Fluffy(maybe)!EunHae)

Genre: Angst, Romance, Drama.

Warning(s): Swearing.

Rating: PG (may later become fluff/smut I'm not sure how brave I'll feel)

Summary: Eight years ago, it had been the worst summer of Sungmin's life, which lead to an incident that made Kyuhyun swear to be Sungmin's enemy for as long as they both should live. The reason Sungmin doesn't quite know. However, soon after Kyuhyun moved away which made Sungmin completely forget about the incident. He pushed it back so far in his mind, that he doesn't even know why he recognizes the name Kyuhyun when the same person from eight years before moves back and joins his class. This begins the enemies relationship as Sungmin still fails to remember what caused Kyuhyun's hatred to build up so much.

Hopefully this chapter is a bit more interesting and it feels like the story is actually going somewhere... hopefully. Let me know if it feels rushed or whatever. I can always adapt it.

Been busy with work lately, so updates may be slower.

(Sidenotes: They attend and all boys boarding school.Sungjin is older than Sungmin. ALSO I've never written a fanfic before, let alone a chaptered one, it has also been about two years since I've written anything. So stick around maybe and it could get better thanks again).

Chapter 7

His body felt too heavy for his legs, as he continued searching. Searching for rescue, he couldn’t see out of his right eye, and his surroundings were black. The only light that was in focus, was the blazing orange flames that grew. The smell of gasoline filled his nasal passages. He coughed, his throat feeling raw and jagged, “help!” he screamed. But his voice was not heard, the flames grew taller. He saw a figure crawling helplessly towards him and away from the flames. The flames then turned into an explosion

Sungmin bolted up and was gasping, as if he were struggling for breath. He looked at his clock, it read ‘05:30AM’ he groaned. Guessing that being able to fall back asleep was out of the question, he got up and threw an old hoody on over his pyjama bottoms. He stretched, as he walked and opened the door of his dorm room.

“A early morning stroll won’t do anybody any harm“ he thought to himself. He wandered around aimlessly down the dark and deserted halls, he stopped noticing a small amount of light coming from the library. He walked forward cautiously, peering in. He saw someone sitting with a small lamp reading on the floor. He walked up to them, “cant sleep either?” he asked just to be friendly.
The person jumped and peered round, it was of course Kyuhyun.
“Ah” Sungmin started “I didn’t realize it was you, I’ll be going” he said as he began to turn around.
“Actually… Sungmin-ssi” Kyuhyun piped up “you… you can stay” this caught Sungmin off guard “if you want”.
Sungmin nodded slightly shocked, he walked forward carefully “sure”. He sat down in front of Kyuhyun, so the lamp was in between them both. The silence was awkward, the pair didn’t know what to say to one another.

“So er…” Sungmin started, before sighing “what do you want to talk about?”
Kyuhyun shrugged.
Sungmin twisted his mouth in thought, he looked at the book Kyuhyun was reading “what’s that?” Sungmin asked, indicated towards the book that lay in Kyuhyun’s lap.

Kyuhyun held it up “it’s a drawing guide… to be honest. I’m unlike you. I excel in most academics, but when it comes to art… I lack skill” Kyuhyun sighed, not liking the fact that he had a weakness.

Sungmin felt slightly offended by the comment but at least Kyuhyun just admitted a weak point, “I see… I don’t do too bad in class Kyuhyun. I’m not stupi-”

“You’re less intelligent than I am” Kyuhyun retorted, before giving a smile.

Sungmin grimaced knowing that Kyuhyun was sort of right, “so how do you like it here?” he asked just to keep a conversation.

“It’s nice… some people I can’t stand. Some teachers are just as idiotic as the students… but overall, it’s a nice place to be in” he nodded.

“I take it I’m one of those you can’t stand right?” Sungmin nodded knowingly.

Kyuhyun looked up and opened his mouth to say something.
“It’s alright Kyuhyun, you don’t have to like me. At first it bothered me, but now… I think I’ll be fine with it. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, we don’t have to like each other but we can be civil, right?” Sungmin said as he offered his hand and gave Kyuhyun a friendly grin.

Kyuhyun took it and shook it once, “I think I can be civil with you… you’re not… you’re not that bad after all”.

~~~
“I cant believe I agreed to this” Sungmin mumbled, as he sat in the reception of the psychiatrist. It was his third time at the psychiatrist now, it had been the same stuff over and over again. Asking about his daily life, school, family, friends. Sungmin found it to be a waste of time and money, but for his mothers sake agreed to go.
“Well… at least your trying it” she smiled grabbing her son’s hand “but quit sulking”.
“No” Sungmin said, crossing his arms like a child and slouching in the seat.
“Lee Sungmin” a voice called.
Sungmin looked up to see his ‘shrink’ Dr jung, he was a tall man, maybe in his early twenties. Sungmin stood up and walked towards the man, they both walked into the office where Sungmin took a seat in front of the large mahogany desk that was placed.
“It’s nice to see you Sungmin” the man started.
Sungmin bowed slightly “to be honest, I still don’t know why I’m here”.
“I know, we‘re going to start with the real session‘s now, it may upset you. But please stick by it” he sat down behind his desk folded his arms on it, “to start things off, I asked you about your general life, how you were in yourself, how school was that sort of thing. What I want to know now is… any siblings?”
Sungmin nodded “I have a brother, Sungjin… he’s older than me”
“What is your relationship like with Sungjin?” Dr Jung asked trying to find out as much as he could.
“I’d say… rocky at the moment. I don’t know why, but when I see him, I just feel so angry at him. We had a fight last time we saw each other, I can‘t even remember what it was about, but the atmosphere is awkward” he said biting his lip slightly.
“What about your appa?” Dr Jung asked, knowing the situation already.
“My appa?…” Sungmin tried thinking of what to say about his father “my… I… don’t remember” he felt panicked, nobody really asked him about his father. He just assumed that he abandoned the family so he didn’t want to bring it up, just in case it upset his eomma.
Dr Jung looked at him in surprise, he was fully aware of the situation with Sungmin’s father. But the fact that Sungmin couldn’t remember astounded him, “try thinking hard… I know it may be upsetting in the end. But keep trying”.
Sungmin sat in silence, “you know don’t you?… tell me” he demanded “what happened!?” he shouted.
“You need to remember for yourself” Dr Jung told him calmly.
Sungmin nodded sitting back in his seat. It took a while, but eventually he looked up with his tears gathering in his eyes, he blinked letting them run down his face “my appa… he left us. He died and he left us” his tears flowed freely, unwilling to stop “why did he leave us?…why?” he cried at the top of his lungs “I was seven and he left us. My eomma stopped smiling because of that bastard!” he yelled pushing the seat back and slamming his fist on the desk. He sunk to the floor sobbing uncontrollably and with no dignity.
Dr Jung knelt down beside him and rubbed his back trying to comfort him.
It took a while for the eleven years of repression and unwillingness to remember what happened, to finally cease. He looked up his eyes swollen and red.
“Well done” Dr Jung smiled “we made a breakthrough”
Sungmin could only nod “sorry” he whispered, still unable to speak properly.
That night
Donghee heard his door open “Sungmin?” he whispered, as he felt someone lay next to him.
“Yeah hyung… it’s me” Sungmin said, his voice cracking through his sobs.
“What’s wrong?” Donghee said worry filling his voice.
“Tomorrow is Sunday… right?” Sungmin sniffled.
“Yeah why?” the other answered, still concerned.
“Can we go to see my appa… it’s been too long” Sungmin asked, guilt of eleven years crashing down on him.
“Of course we can… for now just sleep” Donghee replied, giving his friend a hug.
Sungmin sighed, his thoughts returning to the conversation he finally had with his mother after eleven years. He found out his father had died of a heart attack on the way home from work. He was also a lot like his father in appearance and in mindset. The reason why his mother did not mention his father much was because of the reason Sungmin did not ask about him, she didn’t want to upset him. It only proved to him now that he should talk more to people about things, before he completely forgets what it was or who they were.
Hope you didn't build your expectations too high.
(The events mentioned did not ever happen. I do not own the characters, they are their own persons. I only take credit for the storyline).
